WCS | Sketch week (sketch #4)

I have double posts today since i also have another sketch layout up on the WCS site! I wanted to share it here too!

Monika_sketch 4

Here is the sketch!

Circles are a little challenging for me since I am a pretty linear person when it comes to design. But it is always fun to think outside your box! The photo has lots of different colors, but I picked out yellow and orange for the papers.I wanted to use the circles as embellishments, so I roughed up the edges and added wood veneer hearts to them.

Go check out the rest of the layouts!

Lists with friends 2014 | #5 What I love about having a teenager

I will begin this list by telling you that I have ONE teenager in the house and she is a girl. But it is all good :) Almost all...

1. I really love that we can have (almost) adult conversations.

2. I love that she is passionate about what she thinks is right.

3. I love that she still wants me to cuddle and lay on her bed sometimes.

4. I love her constant texting, snapchatting and twittering. It means she has friends and that she is making new ones around the world and that she is reading and learning.

5. I love that she has humor.

6. I love the sounds she makes in the morning when I am still in bed; lots of rushing between her bedroom and the bathroom getting ready, how she closes my door when she gets her breakfast and her rushing out the door just in time.

7. I love that she shows me stuff on the internet that she thinks is funny.

8. I also loves that she talks and talks about stuff in record speed and actually thinks I can follow!

9. I love that she knows me and always sends me photos throughout the day.

10. I love the person she is developing into, messy and all.

WCS | Sketch week (sketch #3)

Oh, Monika has a great blogging week with one new layout sketch for every day and had us team members make pages too! It is so much fun to see what we all can create out of the same sketch! I made a page using the third day sketch below.

Monika_sketch 3

(I see that the page comes up as a bit dark here, no idea why because on my screen in my files it´s good!)

Anyway, When I first saw this sketch I knew I wanted to make rows of hearts using my watercolors. And so I based my colors from those. I really love using my watercolors these days!

Be sure to check out this entire week of posts at WCS, there are some awesome layouts there! And i have 2 more layouts to share later this week!

Project Life 2014 | Week 3

Week 3

This week we celebrated 1 year together with a sweet picknic in the snow. I almost never do this, but this week I journaled on the computer and printed it out onto the journalingcard. It was super easy and I like how I can fit more text this way.

Our new ferry got baptised and I saved the newspaper clippings in the right pocket. I made a collage with some photos of the event and typed the journaling out on my typewriter.
I didn´t have all that many photos this week so i used more journalingcards. I really like that because eventhough our lifes do get photographed a lot, not everything can be captured. I think
you´ll see more of that in the coming weeks.
We celebrated my twin nieces 6th birthdays that weekend and I added the journling to the card on the left of the pictures,

We went on a spa trip on Sunday through Monday, but I chose to have all that recorded in next weeks spread.

Valentine`s Day prep | Geometric heart banner

I love Valentine´s Day! I love it so much. As previous years, I have prepared a few things already so I could share them with you! First I made these heart banners. I love that they are a bit modern with the geometric cut outs.

This is the how-to!

First I sketched a heart on cardstock and just made it a bit less rounded so that it would have straight edges. I used that as my template to cut out the ones in patterned paper.
I have a ruler with like 10 different geometric shapes, so I simply layed the ruler over each heart and traced them on there. Then I used my craft knife to cut them all out. I am sure a few of you have digital cutting machines that can do this so much easier, but I don´t :) So I go about it in the good old way!

At first I thought that I would like it like that, but then I decided it needed some backing. So I just adhered the heart to some black cardstock and made sure I cut the edges so that a bit of the black paper shows. Now, this ofcourse meant I needed to cut the shapes once again. No problmen! I did all this infront of the TV one night!

I had so much fun, so I went ahead and made a few more, but in red and pinks. I backed those with white cardstock, because I thought it looked best.

So there you have it, the first of my Valentine´s Day decorations for this year!

Moodboard Inspiration | January

At the beginning of the month I shared the moodboard I made to use as inspiration for this months scrapbook pages and projects. I have made a few and thought I´d show you!

Here is the moodboard, just as a reminder. I think I was most inspired by the typeography, shapes and colors in the end.

It was a bit of hard work cutting out all those triangles, but what else would I do while TV watching, right?! And I really like how this came together. I also like to use larger letter stickers to create longer titles.

For this one I downloaded a free calligraphy font called Gentle Touch for the title, which I printed out before making the rest of the layout. Then I added papers and embellishments in some of the colors on the moodboard.

I was really inspired by the type of that wall art with a photo in the middle. I used a think brush to write some lyrics with my watercolors. Then I added watercolor lines to use for journaling. I love to use my watercolor at the moment!

I was inspired by the colorrs again for this layout. I love to use grey as a base color. You can add any color to grey and it will pop! I also included some typeography with that filler card.

Ok, so these are the projects that are done right now. Perhaps I will have some more before January is over!

Project Life 2014 | Week 2

Here is our second week of 2014.

This was another ordinary week. We worked, listened to music, played with the cats...

I included another Currently list as I do from time to time. I also used a photo my brother in law posted of my neices and nephew. I like to include other peoples photos, especially when it is someone that lives far away. It makes me feel like I am a part of their everyday life.
And I did a card just for our weekend, since it was such a lazy and nice one :)

Weekending

We had such an awesome weekend! We took a roadtrip with my sisters and all of the boys for a spa-weekend. Oh, it was so good! First, it is located right by the sea in this little quiet town and we fell in love with it instantly.

We enjoyed different pools and saunas. But our favorite was the hot tubs outside. The few steps out in minus degrees were so worth it! People walked by in their big wintercoats and there we sat in the hot tub :)

The second day started early (7am) because we really wanted to go into the hot tub while it was still dark. We sat there in the quiet dark looking at the stars in the sky. Then we stepped inside to go in the steam sauna before breakfast. I tell you, all days should start like that!

WCS | February gallery sneak

So here we are again, mid month and time for some sneaks of the coming gallery at WCS. I am very happy about both of the layouts I made for February´s theme.

As I have said before, themes can be hard sometimes, but they have also made me make pages I don´t think I would have made if it weren´t for the themes sparking some inspiration!

I can´t wait until you see the gallery on February 1st!

One year anniversary!

Me and my love celebrated 1 year together this past Tuesday! On one hand I can´t believe that it has already gone a year and on the other hand it feels like we have known eachother forever! We did cards for eachother and you can see the one I did above. The text says: Today I have loved you for 365 days.
I also made us an anniversary book. The thought is that we would journal a bit about where we are in life each year and also how we celebrated. We are both looking forward to fill that book up!

And I just have to show you his card that he made for me! Isn´t this sweet!

I wanted the journaling to be just mine, but I wanted to show you that he made such an effort! and I love that!

Share!
