while i was out for a quick drive this week, i passed a small café that has closed for winter. i had seen that this banner was out many times before, but this was the week when i stopped and took some photos. i love how it gives color to our grey world right now!

the simple things #53

i am totally going with this photo for this weeks simple thing. i thought i´d go with something i had already shared for my 30 days of gratitude challenge on flickr, but when i went through my folder i knew that this was the right photo. i have driven past this place a thousand times and often thought "someday i will go and take pictures there", but i never have. until this past week i was going to a meeting in the city early in the morning and the fog was clearing up and all was calm. i decided to be alittle late to the meeting and i turned on my blinkers and turned the car around to go where i have wanted to go for like ever.

this my friends is my 52nd week straight that i have gone through my photos at the end of the week seeking out that simple thing that made my week a bit better. wow! i am actually impressed by myself for not missing one week! go me!

i took this photo during a forest walk with my dogs early one morning. i love how the leaves in the background shines through.

this marta is such a cuddler. she loves to be in my lap especially when i sit here by the computer or at my craft table. she makes a nice companion.

during an evening walk the other night my daughter showed me a new place. it is nearby our house and i have passed it for the last 9 years. i instantly felt that this is my place. you know the place where i can be alone and meditate or just be. i went back today (sunday) and took my camera with me. the light was glorious!

the simple things #49 + something important

first up, here is my simple things photo for this week. my husband is in charge of math homework and i help out with the rest :) that is something i am very grateful for!

 

next, i just want to take up a few minutes of your time for something that is important for me. this past march i lost one of my dear friends to breast cancer (that has spread to most of her body.). last october i made an effort to spread the word about how important it is to check your breasts every month to prevent breast cancer. still, my most viewed post on this blog is the interview i did with my friend linda.

today, it is once again october (breast cancer awareness month) i ask you to check my older posts for some reminders and also visit my shop and buy something for you or someone you love and i will donate every last penny to the pink ribbon.

can you believe that i hardly took any photos this past week?! but i do think that this one could pass since it was taken late last week :)

for my 46th simple things photo i cheated a little bit because technically this shot was taken on sunday last week, but i love it so much. on flickr i titled it "i spy autumn". autumn is one of my very favorite seasons. 

i can´t wait to see what rebecca has up her sleave this coming week as we celebrate the one year anniversary of this photo challenge!

we were attending my husbands brothers wedding this weekend, that is why this is posted late. 

the photo above was taken sunday night as we gathered around the fireplace chatting with other wedding guests.

i´ll admit that this is a photo from this week last year. i have been feeling down this week and haven´t snapped all that many photos. but when i was in the process of chosing this weeks simple thing photo, i went back to my 2010 folder on my computer. i feel that this photo clearly represent how this week has felt one year later. 

this past week we were chocked by the news of that a loved, local sportsman was killed in a planecrash. his wife (of one month) and 2 young boys were left behind. also the mourning of the other 43 people killed in the same crash reminds us that life is so very fragile. and today as we watch tv and follow the 9/11 memorials it gets even clearer that you have to choose to live your life in gratefulness and love.

wow, i almost can´t believe that i have been doing the simple things for 40 weeks! that makes me feel great, because that means that i have looked back on my week at least 40 times to see what simple 

things have mattered most those weeks. 

i wanted to show how i keep my photos from the simple things.

i made a super simple binder where i just put the photos that i print out.
