One more minialbum layout

I wanted to share another mini album layout. I first made one for the April gallery at WCS, it was so much fun I made one more! 

This time I printed a few of my daughter's Snapchat photos. She usually is very photogenic, but on there she is known for her funny faces. 

I love how the colors go together on this!

Hello! Thank you for hanging around while I took a well needed blogging break! I'm back with a how-to post on my WCS contribution in this months gallery. Enjoy!

This month´s theme at WCS is minibooks. A year ago or so is the last time I did a mini. I really like seeing them and find big inspiration in them, but I don´t see a point for me to do them. I have my PL album and layouts where I think I get all the storys down. However, I haven´t missed one single gallery since I got on the team, so I really wanted to make something. I went about thinking of something that I would find useful, something that would work for me. I have done a ton of layouts with multiple photos on them before, I don´t see that as a problem. So, I came up with an idea to add a "minialbum" on to a layout. 

I had a bunch of photos of sunsets that I printed in a square format. I used pocket page protectors from Simple stories and cut the big sqaure pockets out and ended up with five of them which would make my "minialbum".

I wanted the pockets aligned so that I could easily flip them, so I had some washi tape hold them in position while I mounted everything with double sided tape ontop of my page protector. 

I really love how it turned out and have already made another version of this!

WCS | July gallery

Happy July! I can´t believe that yet another month has passed by already! 

But the first of each month always has something fun in it, the new gallery at WCS.

The theme this month is The great outdoors. Oh and you know I could have made 100 layouts on this topic! But I just made 3 ;)

This is a 6x8" page and I really enjoy making pages in this size. I love how they look in my album among the bigger ones. 

I have had this peony for a few years and it started out pityful and didn´t bloom for a while. Then three years ago it finally got strong stems and grew one flower. Now it has become stronger and bigger and it brings me such joy seeing the process. 

This is my second page for the gallery.

Everyone that knows me, knows I love my garden. Being able to grow things is good for the soul and the process is so very cool. I love being able to plant a seed, care for it and then being able to harvest. 

I have said a hundred times before, we live on the most beautiful place on earth!

Memorykeeping | @ work

A few weeks ago Sue Althouse hosted the WCS blog with a week of go-to designs. She showed examples for a row of different designs and I found myself nodding while I read throw her posts. One of them was a band design (or grid) one I use frequently. 

I made this after reading that post about band designs. I have found that I often turn to squares when I want to work with grids. Perhaps it is because they have such an even size. 

These photos were all taken at work and I love to include pages about where I am at work right now. This is clearly not a lenghty and story centered layout, rather it shows a few glimpses into how it looks at the moment. I have done a few with more journaling before and I am sure I will do them later too.

WCS | June gallery

Since WCS has it´s birthday in June, we have all created projects inspired by something in the last year for this months gallery. I could have made several layouts, but this is the one I chose. I used the March sketch.

I have loved working with sketches this year and I have made several layouts with our sketches. I was drawn to this one because it is out of my comfort zone. I usually have white space around the photos + papers etc. But the sketch had interesting elements. 

To have your spouse meet you after work should perhaps not be anything extraordinary, but when it comes to Stellan it is. He met me one day walking without a cane or walker. That is extraordinary. He trains all the time to get stronger and better and it makes me so happy!

I simply love the stamps from Cocoa Daisy! They are so easy to use and has very high quality, making it easy to stamp sharply. Oh and tags, tags makes my heart sing too :)

WCS | Scraplift week ~ Inspired by Laura O´Donell

I was wrong about this being the last page I had to share from the Scraplift week at WCS! 

For this one, I was so inspired by this page by Laura! 

I simply loved Laura´s design! It is so pleasing on the eyes with the grid the photos create and the stacked papers under them. I especially love that she used that bottom white paper for her journaling. As you can see my page is almost a total scraplift which in my book is a high form of praise!

I love this page and I love our newly built raised beds!

WCS | Scraplift week ~ Inspired by Stephanie Bryan

This is the last layout/project I did for the Scraplift themed week at WCS last week. 

I used this layout from Stephanie Bryan to make a piece of wall art and come on, what´s not to love!

I loved Stephanies page and wanted to make a wall art piece using her design. I created the collage with my black and white photos in Picmonkey and printed it almost at a full A4 size. Then I added a few pops of color, which is probably my favorite thing about her layout! And I love that this reminds me of an old school collage!

WCS | Scraplift week ~ Inspired by Amy Coose

Here is another page from the Scraplift theme that was blogged about last week at WCS.

After being inspired by Amy Coose’s*  layout “You are My Dream Come True”

I made this:

I used Amy´s general design with the half page. I didn´t journal on this layout since I plan to have it in my general happy things album, which is more like a coffee table book than a scrapbook. I liked how my eyes were drawn to the photo on her layout and I tried to recreate that. Oh and when I look at this now, I might go in and add some words diagonally like Amy did... we´ll see!

I used washi tape and a cute stamp from one of my Cocoa Daisy kits for this and I love them together!

I am having so much fun taking the challenges and themes from the past weeks at WCS!

WCS | Scraplift week ~ Inspired by Diane Payne

Amy is blogging about scraplifting this week at WCS. I jumped on the opportunity to be extra inspired by some of my fellow team members. You see, I scraplift often, and have always done so. In my early days of scrapbooking it was a perfect way to try out different techniques and designs. When I had finally found my style I don´t have to lift every single detail to be happy with a page, now I simply look at other peoples projects to be inspired by an element, story, product or even just a feeling. I lifted 4 of my fellow team members and I will share each in different posts here. 

After being inspired by this one by Diane Payne, from Jenny Larson's Keep Warm Week back in January I made this:

I love the fun polaroid mats that Diane used on this page. They give such a summer feeling to the whole page. I didn´t use polaroid mats, but still went with a similar shaped on the photos. Since I scrap A4 (8.5x11") I usually end up using three photos. I also liked her title on the edge like that, so I did that too. I l also added a bit more journaling than Diane did, but I can totally see this layout as a title page for spring layouts in my album!

WCS | Jumpstart week | Story layout

For the last day Christine´s challenged us to use a story to jumpstart a layout. 

After my divorce last year I kept the house. It is pretty run down and needs some work but it is my safety and I love it! I first wrote the journaling and then used a photo I had taken a while ago in the bedroom. Sometimes I struggle a bit with longer journaling and how I'd fit it on a page.  Here I used the journaling as an element on the page and that is how I solve it most times. To tie with the story I used Wood veneer houses and hearts.

WCS | Jumpstart week | Technique layout

Here is my third layout I did for Christine´s Jumpstart week on WCS. 

For this one I used a few strips of paper where I had punched out butterflies for another project. I used them to create a mat behind my photo. 

I often save the negatives when I punch out something. I usually use them when I create embellishment clusters or layers. 

To balance it out I used 3 of the butterflies just on top of the photo. 

I had so much fun making this and isn´t that photo the cutest :)

WCS | Jumpstart week | Design layout

This week Christine is hosting the WCS blog and her theme is jumpstarts or startingpoints really. Each day she has different things that can jumpstart your creativity. I made a few layouts for her week and today I´ll show you one from yesterday´s post where the startingpoint was design. 

I used a sketch for this layout which essentially was the design element of my page. The sketch was the WCS April sketch.

The photos are from my Garden board on Pinterest. The layout is about all the dreams that we have for our garden and the inspiration we get from Pinterest. It was so much fun!

It is so funny to me that I just started using sketches a year or so ago. Before that I found it difficult to use them. Now I use them as inspiration all the time!

WCS | Minibook with Jenni Bowlin kit

Lisa here with the last day of Jenni Bowlin Mini Madness week. I worked with the September 2013 Papercrafting kit. When I was planning on what my minibook would consist of I saw that the 30 days of lists were going to start on March 1st and that was that; a 30 lists mini it would be!

Here is a look at the finished book. I had pre planned pretty much all the design for the inside pages. 

The book is made with just patterned papers. I trimmed the 12x12" papers to 6x12" and simply folded the pieces in half. For the binding I used 2 staples. I first poked holes for the staples with my craft needle and simply pushed the staples in those and closed them. 

For the cover I just played with the great things in the kit. The stamp works as a base and then I just added the letter stickers and embellsihments. 

I wanted to use tags on each page for the lists. There were a few tags in the kit, but I decided to cut mine from the cardstock in there instead. I cut them all out and added a small punched out circle from a black paper in the kit to the tag before I punched a whole. 

This is how they turned out! That black circle makes all the difference, no?

Here are a few quick looks inside. I knew the list topics since it is a paid event and printed each list as a strip. One of the girls doing the challenge made a pdf with numbers so I cut those out aswell. 

Then I started listing! I have done this project before I knew i would like it!

I love the chunky feel that this mini has! And i hope that it will inspire you to make something like it!

WCS | One, two, three, four or more photos

Amy Coose had a series on the Write Click Scrapbook blog last week showing simple examples of layouts with one, two, three and four photos. Since i make all kinds of layouts with different numbers of photos I had a few to contribute with. They are all ones i have shared here before, but I thought that repetition can be good :)

I most often use one photo on my pages. The size of the photo however can be different. I don´t shy away from using a smaller photo and fill out the page more with embellsihments. 

But ofcourse the usual size is either a square or 4x6"" photo. The larger the photo, the more focus it gets. If I would have a photo that I don´t have much of a story behind, but rather just want to save I will use a larger size.

Nowadays I often use photos straight from my Instagram. Then i often use 2, but size them down to about 10 cm. I also use my printers software to print either two 3x4" photos on the same 4x6" photocard or I´ll print 4 photos on one. 

To use three photos on one page doesn´t happen to often for me. But if the photos tell a story over time for example, it is good.  The rule of thirds is a "rule of thumb" or guideline which applies to the process of composing visual images such as designs, films, paintings, and photographs and is something I like to use with either embellsihments and/or other elements on my pages.

I have found that if I am going to use 4 or more photos on a page I will mostly do two things:

- I collect my photos in a mosaic

- I use a repetiotion of the same photo for effect. 

If I use a mosaic, it is mostly on travel or event pages when I really want to record many photos without making either a minibook or multiple layouts.
