WCS | April gallery

Hello! Thank you for hanging around while I took a well needed blogging break! I'm back with a how-to post on my WCS contribution in this months gallery. Enjoy!

This month´s theme at WCS is minibooks. A year ago or so is the last time I did a mini. I really like seeing them and find big inspiration in them, but I don´t see a point for me to do them. I have my PL album and layouts where I think I get all the storys down. However, I haven´t missed one single gallery since I got on the team, so I really wanted to make something. I went about thinking of something that I would find useful, something that would work for me. I have done a ton of layouts with multiple photos on them before, I don´t see that as a problem. So, I came up with an idea to add a "minialbum" on to a layout. 

I had a bunch of photos of sunsets that I printed in a square format. I used pocket page protectors from Simple stories and cut the big sqaure pockets out and ended up with five of them which would make my "minialbum".

I wanted the pockets aligned so that I could easily flip them, so I had some washi tape hold them in position while I mounted everything with double sided tape ontop of my page protector. 

I really love how it turned out and have already made another version of this!

WCS | Minibook with Jenni Bowlin kit

Lisa here with the last day of Jenni Bowlin Mini Madness week. I worked with the September 2013 Papercrafting kit. When I was planning on what my minibook would consist of I saw that the 30 days of lists were going to start on March 1st and that was that; a 30 lists mini it would be!

Here is a look at the finished book. I had pre planned pretty much all the design for the inside pages. 

The book is made with just patterned papers. I trimmed the 12x12" papers to 6x12" and simply folded the pieces in half. For the binding I used 2 staples. I first poked holes for the staples with my craft needle and simply pushed the staples in those and closed them. 

For the cover I just played with the great things in the kit. The stamp works as a base and then I just added the letter stickers and embellsihments. 

I wanted to use tags on each page for the lists. There were a few tags in the kit, but I decided to cut mine from the cardstock in there instead. I cut them all out and added a small punched out circle from a black paper in the kit to the tag before I punched a whole. 

This is how they turned out! That black circle makes all the difference, no?

Here are a few quick looks inside. I knew the list topics since it is a paid event and printed each list as a strip. One of the girls doing the challenge made a pdf with numbers so I cut those out aswell. 

Then I started listing! I have done this project before I knew i would like it!

I love the chunky feel that this mini has! And i hope that it will inspire you to make something like it!

December mini #fun

We had snow for a good 5 days before it rained away bohoo!

So I am very happy that we took the time to play a bit in it before!

This paper is one that comes with the Sn@p album and I thought it fitted in a Holiday themed album. 

This is the back with a paperstar and some cute wood veneer. 

The tree page! One of my favorites! 

I love that I am playing a little with see through and transperencies in this album! I need to do this more in my regular PL album!

I have a few more pages that needs journaling and some embellishments. I am going to work on those today.

December minialbum | A fun transperency page

I made a fun page for my December minialbum the other day! I had this plastic transperency sheet that I cut to size a whole page. I adhered the photos and journaled around the edges with a permanent marker. 

Then I just slipped in into the page protector. 

This is the back. I don´t mind having the text showving through, but I did want to do something on the back of the photo.

I ended up putting another photo on there and a journaling card above talking about how we decorated. 

I love this addition in my December minialbum!

Ho Ho Ho

December minialbum | a few more pages

I shared the beginning of my december minialbum in this post and also a few thoughts about my process. Now I would like to show you the first pages.
This one above was one of the pages I did before december, as I always start planning and making crafts in november. Pinterest is clearly my place to go for all sorts of ideas! If you´d like to follow me, here is a link! This year I created a new board called December mini for all things minialbum. And here is one for all things Christmas.

To get into the Holiday mood we were out doing some shopping and found some ornaments to play with! And ofcourse wrapping gifts while listening to Christmas music!

And here is a page about one of my favorite traditions; gingerbraed cookie baking with friends!

As you can see I am keeping things simple and to the point. I am looking forward to doing more pages in there!

Ho Ho Ho

A new December minialbum

A week back I had a post up on WCS about my December minialbums past and present. Go read that and then come back as I wanted to talk a bit more about how I am doing it this year!

2013 is the second year I am doing most of my memorykeeping in Project Life form. In the past I have done a december daily type of minialbum during December. My very favorite is the one I did 2011 that has list prompts from the e-book List it! Christmas Edition from Ella Publishing.
This year however, I am starting a new annual minibook. Being in a new relationship that has already become a living-with-eachother thing creates a new situation. We all have a little different traditions that are sacred for us and I thought that starting a whole new book would be the right thing to do.

I am using a Sn@p minialbum from Simple Stories for this and I plan on adding in coming years too. The stories will probably be much like the ones I have documented before, with the difference of not having a new minibook to store each year. Depending on the bulkiness, I plan on having at least 3 years worth of Decembers in there.

I am using this mini to be a little more creative that in say my PL albums. I plan to play a bit with techniques I don´t normally do which is exciting!

I hope that i can capture our new and old traditions!

WCS | March gallery

Happy March 1st! The new gallery at WCS is live and it is March Mini Madness! 

I made this minibook to hold a few of my Instagram photos with the tag sunshine is my drug. 

I simply made the cover with thicker cardstock and folded it. 

I made my inside pages by adding photos and patterned paper back to back and the binding is simply washitape. 

I didn´t add any words in the book as I plan to use it more like a insiration/pep kind of book on gloomy days.

December Daily | first update

Here is my first update about my December daily project.

I have been sharing on Instagram when I have finished a page. 

I have used some glitter, washi and some paper embellishments in this book.

Keeping it super simple.

I love how thick it is becoming already.

December daily | my book

This year, since I am doing Project Life, I wasn´t going to make a December daily minibook. I didn´t want to make it just for the sake of making it, you know. But then I happened upon Annette Haring on Instagram and she posted a minibook she made before just using a simple Moleskine book, a prompt and a list on the right side of a spead and a photo on the left and I was sold. This was a concept I could buy, even though I am doing my Project Life at the same time! This week Annette shared a really good post on how she is doing her December daily and also shared prompts for all 31 days.

 

I made my own Moleskine kind of book and printed her prompts. I ended up using just a few of those and made up a few of my own so that they would more fit how our December will look like.  

I plan on going through the pile of prompts every few days and see if I have a photo for it, or some days I will have a prompt ready. 

I have prepared by making the actual book, embellished it and added in the dates on each day. I plan to do a spread for each day, but because I have the prompts, it will be easier than finding something random each day that I perhaps already record in the Project Life album. 

Ok, that is the plan. We will see how it goes!

I plan to just add the whole minibook at the end of my Project Life album.
