WCS | Jumpstart week | Design layout

This week Christine is hosting the WCS blog and her theme is jumpstarts or startingpoints really. Each day she has different things that can jumpstart your creativity. I made a few layouts for her week and today I´ll show you one from yesterday´s post where the startingpoint was design. 

I used a sketch for this layout which essentially was the design element of my page. The sketch was the WCS April sketch.

The photos are from my Garden board on Pinterest. The layout is about all the dreams that we have for our garden and the inspiration we get from Pinterest. It was so much fun!

It is so funny to me that I just started using sketches a year or so ago. Before that I found it difficult to use them. Now I use them as inspiration all the time!

Project Life 2014 | Week 16 with Collect app

Welcome to week 16! 

With the amazing inspiration of Annette Haring I tried the Collect App for this week´s spread. I found it really easy to use and to print. I thought I´d just use those prints for the whole spread, but then the paper crafter in me weighed in and I just had to add other cards to some of the pockets! 

I also added a few digital stamps and also wood veneer pieces to some of the photos to make them a bit more 3D.

I also included the monthly photo I have set out to take this year. I decided that a photo out my kitchen window catches the different seasons quite perfectly!

The currently journaling card is also one of my favorite things to include every other week or so. 

I see using the Collect App for spreads to be useful for weeks when I don´t have a lot of craft time or while traveling. And I liked it so much that I already have another project in the works using it! 

DIY "enamel" dots

When I shared my WCS May gallery layout I said that I would post a short DIY post on how I made those "enamel" dots. So, here it is!

There are a lot of companies making enamel dots these days and I do use them frequently in both pages and cards. They can be a little pricey and I haven´t found a good place to get them near me. So that (and the fact that I love DIY`s) made me search out how to make my own. 

As a crafter I have all sorts of materials at home. For this DIY I used different kinds of plastic beads. Both Hama beads and larger beads that my daughter made necklaces´ of when she was younger. As I was going to bake them in the oven, I laid them out on a sheet of baking paper and set the oven to 170 degrees Celcius (around 340 degrees Farenheit). 

After baking them for about 25 minutes, this is what I got. The different beads bake at different times I found. The Hama beads baked the fastest and shaped nicely. Yet, the more color they had the better they came out. You see the aqua one? That one just melted to a flat bead, but the black one was perfect. 

I decided to just put the ones not finished yet back in the oven until they melted enough for me. That would be anything from 10-20 minutes more. 

Here are the Hama beads to the right and larger plastic beads to the left. The left ones are so yummy since they are see through and has lucious colors and these are the ones I used on the layout above. 

I am no expert obviously, but I found it fun to experiment and I have already used several of these in different projects!

Happy May and happy new gallery day! 

May has had the Everydaily theme for 4 years now and it still is such a great theme! Here is my page for the gallery!

What do I do every day? Well, a lot of things clearly, but coffee in the morning is one of my favorite everydailies. Something that makes life a little extra good is the breakfast in bed tradition we have every day. A little moment to wake up and cozy before the day starts.

Do you see those “enamel” dots at the bottom right? Yup, made those myself! I melted plastic beads in my oven! I´ll have a DIY post up about that soon!

I layered yummy papers and transperencies for the page too!

WCS | Minibook with Jenni Bowlin kit

Lisa here with the last day of Jenni Bowlin Mini Madness week. I worked with the September 2013 Papercrafting kit. When I was planning on what my minibook would consist of I saw that the 30 days of lists were going to start on March 1st and that was that; a 30 lists mini it would be!

Here is a look at the finished book. I had pre planned pretty much all the design for the inside pages. 

The book is made with just patterned papers. I trimmed the 12x12" papers to 6x12" and simply folded the pieces in half. For the binding I used 2 staples. I first poked holes for the staples with my craft needle and simply pushed the staples in those and closed them. 

For the cover I just played with the great things in the kit. The stamp works as a base and then I just added the letter stickers and embellsihments. 

I wanted to use tags on each page for the lists. There were a few tags in the kit, but I decided to cut mine from the cardstock in there instead. I cut them all out and added a small punched out circle from a black paper in the kit to the tag before I punched a whole. 

This is how they turned out! That black circle makes all the difference, no?

Here are a few quick looks inside. I knew the list topics since it is a paid event and printed each list as a strip. One of the girls doing the challenge made a pdf with numbers so I cut those out aswell. 

Then I started listing! I have done this project before I knew i would like it!

I love the chunky feel that this mini has! And i hope that it will inspire you to make something like it!

Project Life 2014 | Week 15

Week 15.

This was the week our cat followed us to the store and I had to stay outside with her so that she didn´t go inside with us :) I journaled on the photo in Picmonkey before I printed the photo. 

This was the week I had a terrible day at work and my love had made a lovely suprise for me when I came home. 

This was the week I started yet another chrochet blanket. I now know how to do the ripple stitch and it makes me happy! Tip: To get a good photo of me working on this I handed over my phone to my love and he snapped one for me!

This was the week when I cleaned my craft room and discovered I had so many different tools; pens, sissors, screwdrivers and pain brushes. I snapped a photo of them all, it made me happy!

This was the week I had a lovely visit with a dear friend and we chatted over coffee and scones. Tip: Try to journal around the edge of a coffee mug or plate, it is fun!

This was the week when our seedlings sprouted. Tip: Sometimes you don´t need so many words. 

This was the week our cherry tree started blooming, it is always an exciting time.

This was the week I took family photos for my sister and her family.

Tip: Use cute free cards you get in packages to make a card for PL! This was the back of a greeting Cocoa Daisy had in their kit. 

And that my friends is yet another week of Project Life!
