i scrap my way to feeling better!

the story: my daughters 10th birthday.

the goods: i made a border with basic grey letter stickers at the top. used my circle puncher to punch out a bunch of circles from different scraps of patterned papers.

the story: my sadie dog almost never plays with my husband, or anyone else for that matter...but this day she was in super play mode and even my husband said, this has to go in the scrapbook!

the goods: i used thinkeringink patterned paper for the righthand page. i wanted the pages to look like they belonged together, so i used the dotted patterned paper there too. the journaling was made on my typewriter.

the story: my daughter had a loose tooth forever and for the love of god we couldn´t get it out! we faught and cried over that damn tooth for what seemed forever. then we made an appointment for the dentist and my daughter was so nervous. then as i predicted he just snapped it out of there in like 2 seconds!

the goods: here i took out my heart punch and used some patterned papers (a few are from october afternoon). the label is from åhléns and the smile tag is from a kit i got from a swedish kit club called creative club.

the story: my daughters biological father is an officer and takes care of lfound mines in kosovo at the moment. i wanted to record their letter writing during his absence.

the goods: october afternoon patterned paper strips all scratched and rolled up :)

the story: i took this photo of one of my sunflowers and i thought of it as a suncatcher.

the goods: i took two sheets of paper, sewed the seems on my machine and used my crafters knife to cut outside the seems and lift the edges up. i then used basic grey letter stickers for my title and some rub ons for the rest of the lettering. i cut out the circleword bloom from a patterned paper from k&company.

hm...i acctually do feel better :)

happy things: september

i thought i would start a new challenge for myself this month. although i do love fall i am a little sad that summer is gone (and did it went by extra fast this year?). so as a little helper i am going to find everyday things that makes me happy during september.
i´ll start with this note i got from my daughter. i got it from her the other night when i had comforted her after she had been sad about some boy at school. we had a cozy time on the floor, her in my lap and me hugging and kissing her tears away. the note says: i am happy you made me
first i thought that she forgot to put a word like happy or better or something behind that sentence, but it turns out she is happy that i made her, period! i love that!

10

i am still in such disbelief about the fact that i have a 10 year old... a tall, skinny and beautiful 10 yearold. she is just one head shorter than me and i always tell her that she is going to outgrow me before she starts 7th grade! she agrees :)
10 years ago i experienced one of the most excrusiating pain in my life, and then suddenly she was here. i was so suprised that she was acctually a she :) i was positive that we were going to have a boy, so positive that we hadn´t even talked much about girl-names! so, while i was in a nice morphine coma her dad decided on the name Stina. Not Kristina, just Stina. and i agreed, but i had to write the name up on a piece of paper by my bedide because for the life of i couldn´t remember the name! ha!

nowadays she is making motherhood really challenging for me. or maybe it is not her, maybe it is me? i mean this mothering thing might be the most difficult thing i have ever tried my hands on! people might say that i would be all on top of that since i work with kids professionally, to those i say: well, i might like the kids i work with, but my daughter is the love of my life! it is just that, the love and emotional bit of the problem that acctually makes the problem. you just want to make everything right and not disapoint her, but sometimes life stings and she has to learn that too. it is so hard raising a girl; i want her to be strong and confident, nice and a good friend, but at the same time i don´t want anyone to walk all over her and take advantage of her niceness. i want to teach her that she is the soule owner of her body and that no means no. i want to teach her that education is so very important. i want her to know that she can come to me with everything.
how come that we are just supposed to know how to do that automatically when we become parents?

happy birthday, my favorite girl!

stories and goods

the story: i record my daughters first day of school every year. this year she starts the 4th grade!

the goods: the title is a printout from a digital kit. the patterned paper strip is from k&company. i journaled on a library card.

the story: i wanted to record some thoughts and feelings about my not so fun part of life, but even so i thought it was important to have it written down. the journaling is very personal, so i kept it hidden on the layout and i will on the blog to.

the goods: the patterned paper comes from a k&company paper pack. i embellsihed it with butterfly punch outs and some bling and circle punch outs. the circle on the photo is one i cut out from the paper.

the story: my husband took me for a lovely picnick the other day to cheer me up and i thought it was so sweet that he even thought of bringing the camera :)

the goods: not much going on really. the tag is from making memories paperie poolside tagbook.

the story: this was kind of funny! i walked into my daughters room the other morning and saw this little pile of books and nintendo. i felt so proud when i saw that english/swedish dictionary sitting there! i told my husband a day later and he giggled and said "oh, we used that to keep the window open!" ha!

the goods: making memories tape to make the frame. the tag is a free dwonload from the containerstore.com.

now i have to go celebrate my favorite 10 year olds birthday!
