Valentine´s day filler card

I was home sick a few weeks before Valentine´s day and I always tend to do something creative to feel better. This time I did some filler cards for my PL spread. I penciled out some 3x4 cards and then used my date stamp to make a pattern with the date all over the cards. I did this before cutting them out, that makes it easier to get a more messy look when the stamps overlap.

I then stamped that love flag from Studio AE Best banners set. (You can get it here!) Added some red watercolor and a pearl. I think it turned out pretty nice!

Have a great Monday!

Valentine´s Day prep | Free subway art

Hey all! I made some free goodies for you! As I have mentioned before, I love Valentine´s day and I have made subway art with all the cute words that connects with the day of love! And ofcourse I am sharing them with you!

Since I do Project Life I have made them in a pocket size so you can just print them, cut and slide them right into your pocket page protector.

I have also made a larger size so it makes it easy to pop into a frame for decoration!

What are you waiting for? Go download!

Valentine`s Day prep | Geometric heart banner

I love Valentine´s Day! I love it so much. As previous years, I have prepared a few things already so I could share them with you! First I made these heart banners. I love that they are a bit modern with the geometric cut outs.

This is the how-to!

First I sketched a heart on cardstock and just made it a bit less rounded so that it would have straight edges. I used that as my template to cut out the ones in patterned paper.
I have a ruler with like 10 different geometric shapes, so I simply layed the ruler over each heart and traced them on there. Then I used my craft knife to cut them all out. I am sure a few of you have digital cutting machines that can do this so much easier, but I don´t :) So I go about it in the good old way!

At first I thought that I would like it like that, but then I decided it needed some backing. So I just adhered the heart to some black cardstock and made sure I cut the edges so that a bit of the black paper shows. Now, this ofcourse meant I needed to cut the shapes once again. No problmen! I did all this infront of the TV one night!

I had so much fun, so I went ahead and made a few more, but in red and pinks. I backed those with white cardstock, because I thought it looked best.

So there you have it, the first of my Valentine´s Day decorations for this year!

valentine project + giveaway winner!

i love garlands and banners. they are such an easy way to create a festive feeling to the everyday. this is a heart garland that i made during a ferry ride a few weeks ago. i simply folded the colored papers and drew half a heart and cut it out to be a whole heart. i added string to each heart with just 2 stitches each. i might have gotten alittle carried away because the whole garland is over 2 meters long :)

i did the green version last year and loved it so much! it´s an easy mini wreath i made using cardboard (you can use an old ceral box or whatever) for the base. i also used the Heart confetti from my shop and layered the hearts ontop of eachother filling the cardboard base. this year i stamped the word "hug" (kram in swedish) and last year i used a pre made bingo card, i like them both. i´ll put them on our montly shelf, but how cool would it be to send these as Valentines?!!

i did a yearn wreath for christmas 2 years ago and really it is such an easy way to spice up a styrofoam form. this one is shaped as a heart and then after adding the white yarn, i made some flowers from an old t-shirt :) they are so easy to make that i can´t even tell you, but there are a bunch of tutorials out there so just do a google search.

ok, so there you have a few newer Valentine projects in opposite from the older ones from this post.

now on to...

the giveaway winner is:
Kirsten sa...

I love the smells of my everyday life - my boys when they first get up, that first cup of coffee, dinner cooking in the evening and the candle that I light each night. These daily smells bring comfort to my every day.

email me your adress, kirsten!

february project: hearts on the door

during a sick day this week i made this cutie door hanger. i used a white foam heart and wrapped brown yarn around and around and around...you get the picture :) i then made 3 tiny crochet hearts (pattern here). i simply attached the hearts to the bigheart by tying them to it. such a simple project, even for a little older kids maybe?!

isn´t it cute?!

february projects ~ and a giveaway!

happy february friends! i love february, can it be beacause it is my birthday month?! maybe :) to celebrate that this lovely month has just begun i´d like to share a little project with you.

have you ever tried some needle felting before? it is so much fun and a fast project. you´ll need some needle felting foam, but i used regular foam as in matrass foam. and you´ll need a felting needle. the needle is kinda long with a wooden handle and the actual needle has small torns on it and when you stick it down through the wool it takes it (the wool) with it down in the foam. i hope that makes any sense!

you can make any shape ofcourse, but for this project i used a heart shaped cookie cutter to help me form my felt heart.

i have learned that if you add a little piece of wool as you go it makes the best felting. i also keep sticking down the needle for quite some time, so that the shape gets firm.

voila! i put a pin on the back and will use it as a pin on my jacket!

oh, 1,2,3,4 hearts that means i do have some to spare! and that would mean a little heart giveaway! lucky you! if you´d like to have a chance to get a felted heart, leave a comment on this post and i will draw 2 winners by wednesday! hipp hipp hooray!

pre-valentine post #3

ok, i did a little pre-valentine project last night (before i knew that the night would envolve some serious stomach bug mess by my daughter!)
i wanted to make a envelope to put my letter that i am writing my husband for V-day. i had plain white ones, but i wanted a more jazzed up one :)

i used one plain paper envelope

a little piece of red dotted wrapping paper

i picked the envelope apart and traced it onto the wrapping paper.

tada! :)

folded it back together and glued it.

i used a button from the "all buttoned up digital kit" by Katie Pertiet to make a closer. and added a picece of tape to the back so that the envelope could be closed and opened over and over again.

i cut out his initial and some brackets in felt and added a small heart.

volia!

oh and i found this
Flickr Valentines Dy Worldwide group that i found cute :)

and i bought some tulips today to brighten the day.

i hope that you all have a lovely friday!

1.i have been looking out on the lovely internet for some love ideas ;)
this next one is not mine but i cannot for the love of god find where i found it!!! anyway, please read it and have in mind that someone else has originally written it!

"Letting special people know you care

Here's a list of simple ways to let the people you care about know how you feel. While the list was meant for adults, there are lots of ideas that can be used to tell our children that we love them too!

♥ Call or leave messages through the day, just to say I love you. Make the number of calls significant, if you been dating six months, make six calls. If it's your child's fifth birthday, hide five notes with 'I love you' in their school or lunch bags.

♥ Write your love a love letter. Most love letters are written in the early stage of a relationship. It may be years since your special person last received a love letter. Children will treasure a letter from their parents letting them know how special and loved they are.

♥ Think of a regular chore that your love does every day (eg. Take out the garbage). Do that chore and leave a note saying ‘I love you’ (eg. On the garbage can).

♥ Make your own Valentine’s Day card. Get a book of poetry from the library and copy a love poem for the verse.

♥ Make a special dinner using red and white (or a favorite color) as the theme. You could serve spaghetti with tomato sauce (arranged in a heart shape) and garlic bread cut out with heart shaped cookie cutters. Back a cherry or strawberry pie and with a heart cut out in the crust.

♥ Everyone loves to be spoiled with breakfast in bed. Or how about waking a birthday child up with a mug of hot chocolate or freshly squeezed orange juice.

♥ Often families are very busy in the evening and babysitters can be expensive. Arrange to meet your love for lunch. You could go to your favorite restaurant or make a picnic lunch ( for the office or a near by park).

♥ Rent a favorite video, make popcorn and have a night in at the movies. Or make it a family game night where each person gets to play their favorite game."

i am doing the loveletter one :)

2. i heart you more than____ has the cutest reasons why we love someone. there are a lot of reasons :)

3. romance pro/con :) : knock knock has such cool papers and forms. i liked this pro/con romance form :)

4. i usually send a simple card to some of my friends for valentines and i am doing so this year too. this year however the simple part is almost ridiculous! first i found this lovely postcard template online downloaded it and printed a few sheets of them. i used my paper cutter to make them the right postcard size and then simply put a red heart sticker on the front...that´s all!

yup, i told you super simple. but i think super cute :)

5. and see what great links there are in the comments section of the pre-valentine post #1.

pre-valentine post #1

if you are reading this in 2011, the giveaway is closed!

ok, so i am a big romantic, but i live with a husband that thinks i am high maintenance, which i have proven time and time again that i am not! i was almost teary eyed last year when i acctually bought this lovely. small, small everyday things...i have a project for this, but that is another post ;)

this post is a pre-valentine give away kinda post :) in a previous post i quickly mentioned a little love-giveaway if anyone noticed! with the larger scraps of paper i was talking about in mentioned post, i have made small valentine booklets for you! last year i made a type of these (scroll down a bit) it was a simple little book were i stated a few reasons i love my husband and my daughter. simple things like: his hugs, her smile etc. so, for the giveaway i made two little books where i have embellished the front and the left side of the spreads and you can add your journaling on the right side.

here are some of the pages inside the books.

the game is easy; just leave a comment and add a link to a cute valentine project and i will draw two of you by the weekend!

Share!
