From Pin to Reality | Washi banner

Finally a new From pin to reality post! These posts are my attempt to actually do something of all those pins I pin over at Pinterest.

I have been wanting to make these banners forever. Washi tape is such a good product to have at home since it is so versatile. For my banner I also used these free printable banner letters that I matted on black cardstock for more effect. 

It fits right in with all the other black and white wall art above our bed!

From Pin to reality | Chrochet wreath

It has been a while since my last From Pin to reality post, but I see a few ones coming now that I can start sharing my Holiday crafts!

I have had versions of this craft pinned before, but haven´t done anything before. 

I had a small styrofoam wreath at home that I had wrapped in string before, so I just took that of and started to chrochet my new one. I used the double chrochet stitch, but if you are more comfortable with a single stitch that works just aswell! That is why this is a craft you can do as a beginner too!

I worked my rows one by one until it reached about 45 cm. During my work I sized and measured so that everything would fit.

Then I started to sew the piece around the wreath. You can work bulky, but I tried to make sure it was overlapped so that it wouldn´t show to much on the front side. For this I used a big yarn needle.

As you can see it is a little bulky on the back, but not so much it wouldn´t hang ok.

The ends were sewn overlapping aswell.

I then added a few stitches with red yarn mimicing red berries and then I crochet a red ribbon.

Ho ho ho ;)

From pin to reality | Halloween banner

Finally I have a new From pin to reality post!

I wanted to make a simple Halloween banner and went on a search for a template. I found this simple free download and used the template to make this banner.

 

 

Instead of just making the banner with the pumpkin and bat I used on of my thrifted old books and used pages for a background. 

It fits in just right in our hallway!

This ofcourse involves a bit of fussy cutting, so this might be something for an older child. But if an adult cut the shapes a child could easily glue them to the background and embellish it!

 

From Pin to reality | String wall art

Here is another craft we worked on together! So much fun!

I won´t include a pin to this since I have pinned so many with this, I didn´t want to just pick one! 

We used a old shelf we had laying around and used a saw to cut it to a square size. He did that and sanded it a bit while I was at work. 

We used the only black paint we had home at the moment; chalkboard paint :) It required only one coat and dried superfast!

I folded a paper in half and drew a large heart. This way it will be even on both sides.

Then he wanted to hammer all the tiny nails all around. 

And I wired white embroidery floss on the nails while watching TV :)

From pin to reality | Mason jar votive holder

Obviously I needed to do this one :)

Me and my new love did this together. We opted to do just one jar on a piece of driftwood.

First we gathered our supplies. The metallic ring that holds the jar is usually used to clamp hoses and in plumbing. You open it by unscrewing the screw a bit.

I made a hole in the back of the metallic ring using a nail and a hammer, so that we could then attach the ring to the driftwood. 

Take the jar and place the ring where you want it and screw it shut. Attach some kind of safe hanging to the back of the driftwood and you are done! 

We love how it turned out!

For now we use a selflighted candle since we are unsure of how warm the jar can get against that dry piece of old wood. Saftey first!

From Pin to reality | Dino iPhone tripod

Hi there! If you are new here, let me quickly explain what these posts are. I love Pinterest! I have 77 boards  with 6939 pins to them ;) and by the time you read this, that number has probably gone up! Now, I am also a crafter, so I decided to make stuff I have seen on Pinterest. Enter the From pin to reality post series! These are where I show you the pin and the finished product that I have made. It´s fun and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn´t ;) 

Today I am showing a supersimple DIY inspired by this pin:

Dino iPhone tripod

I had wanted some kind of tripod or stand for my iPhone for a while, but didn´t want (read: I couldn´t afford!) to buy one. So, naturally I searched Pinterest for suggestions. Basically this is a tripod made out of a plastic dino and suction cup.

I bought this little guy at the dollar bin and basically said a prayer and be-headed him...I cut it´s head and front legs of with a sharp knife. If you look closely you can see a line where they had glued him together, so I used that as my guide. 

I had a suction cup here at home so I attached it to the front of the dino with my hot glue gun. Boy, is that one of the best Christmas gifts ever! I let it dry and tada! 

It works wonderfully! I have used it while listening to podcasts and even while facetiming! This was so simple and costed me about a dollar to make! One of the best things I have made!

From pin to reality | Watercolor resist

I found a cute pin that I wanted to try!

Now, I don´t even know if the source uses the same way of doing it as I am, but I thought of doing a watercolor resist thing when I saw it. 

It is really super easy and you can´t even say "but I can´t paint!" because all you have to do is stroke watercolor onto your paper. Use stickers and put them where you want your paper to show.

Take your brush and just stroke your paint out over the whole paper. Let it dry and then carefully peel of the stickers. 

Here is the result. 

The more paint you use the more your pattern will show. I used stickers that I had a lot of and some that I wouldn´t use on anything anyway. I also used letterstickers to make a garagesale sign and a few journalingcards that I am using in my PL album.

After the paint has dried I could easily journal the info. I hope this will make the posters visable and we have lots of buyers for our garagesale ;)

I will have the journalingcards in a separate post very soon!

It was fun to play with my watercolors and I would totally recommend doing it with kids!
