the simple things #27

ok, is it just me or do you also want to just lay down here?!

a note about the simple things from the founder rebecca cooper:

I've set out capturing an image each week of the simple things in my life that make me smile...the little things and little moments that make me happy. a cool ocean breeze, an afternoon nap, some pretty flowers...

I can already tell I will treasure this collection of photos, but the weekly reminder to focus on the simple joys that surround me each day has been an unexpected (but oh so wonderful) little perk to this project.

ps. today is my daughters very first time entering a simple thing! go give her some love, will ya! she blogs in swedish, but she can read your comments :)

52 photos in 52 weeks: week 19 roundup and new prompt

sorry for not posting a 52 photos post in a few weeks, but here i am back on track! this weeks theme has been scent. how do you take a photo of a sense, you may ask. well, just check out the flickr group and they´ll tell ya :)
me, i took this one of some lily of the valley flowers i have on my kitchen table. i also made a simple digital layout about my favorite scents.

what is your favorite?

next theme is vintage. have fun!

stretch your sketch from ella publishing

here is the latest sketch from Ella publishing.
i played with it and i love how my layout came out.

yes mam, i went double! if you look hard you can see that this is 2 pages and i let my photos go over the edge of the papers creating the illusion (perhaps) that it in fact is one big page.

it is a bit strange to me that i enjoy these challenges because i am not a sketch kinda person at all. fun it is though!

project life in may post #4 ~ first week

my new project in may is as you might know, to do a project life inspired album for may only.
i am proud to show you my very first week spread.

so, here is a look at the spread. as you can see i used a few of the elements i made before i started the project. i included a screen shot of the news of the death of bin laden because it has just taken over the news internationally this week. i also included a post that my daughter did on her facebook about the snow (!) we got earlier this week. i journalled about how the air just went out of my husband and me this past thursday. we were so very tired, and sure enough today we both have soar throats :(
the ladies over at eighteen25 had a fun free download and i took that, resized it to fit beside the bottom photo.
in this shot you can also see the long journaling tag i made in WORD and ofcourse it is inspired by ali edwards digital long journalers which i love.

here are a closer look.

on the back of the long journal tag i added a mosaic i did using picnik with my daughters photos from the week. she is really into learning angles and such with her photography right now and we took a photowalk together this week.
i also printed more cards for my photo buisness this week and added one of those. this week i wrote a ridiculously long to-do list and added that in there too.
oh, and we finally got our new old caravan home this weekend and i added photos of that.

a closer look at page two.

i simply added one of the extra slots for another photo of our caravan. i used the slots i premade.

what have i thought about this week when in process for this?
well, i have been tossed about what to include and not. i guess i think that since i am doing this for 5 weeks now, i don´t have to have the everyday things all in the first week. i do love the idea of adding more pages right in there every week. i know a few of you project lifers add the scrapbook layouts that you make each week to your project life albums. i don´t know if i´ll do that...

spring training day 11 over at WCS

have you been checking out the Write Click Scrapbook blog this past two weeks? we teamed up with that ever fabulous Ella publishing for spring training making us all warm in our clothes ready for National Scrapbook day :)
day 11 of the training was to use photostrips in some way on your layout. i didn´t have the time to actually do a new layout but i do have some older ones i´d like to share again.

for these photostrips i used a template from kitchy digitals.

photobooth-ish with the same smaller photo 4 times created in WORD.

the same as the above :)

more of a photobooth on a mac maybe?!

:)

did the photobooth strip at bighugelabs.com

be sure to check out all the cool challenges that have been shared at the Write Click Scrapbook blog and also on Ellas blog.

a celebratory challenge from cocoa daisy

i played with the fun challenge over at Cocoa daisy that was inspired by the recent royal wedding in the UK. it  was supposed to have something to do with weddings (obviously) and have a banner included. i actually did this page after i read the challenge, but not until i fnished it thought hey, this could totally go with the theme!
me and my husband celebrated our 9 years as a married couple this past week and my daughter took this photo of us, which i love. i added 2 of ali edwards word overlays in PSE and printed the photo all in all. i added my own pink banner and some twine. i really love how it turned out.
the challenge is over, but i thought it was a fun one so i wanted to post about it. i have some other anniversary layouts from years past also.
