mothers

i came upon emilie aherns blog while bloghopping today. she posted a lovely post about aleidas challenge i especially loved what aleida asked her in an email:

"Have you ever seen a photograph of your own mother and thought to yourself how fat she looked? Or how she wasn't wearing make-up? Or wasn't dressed in a glamorous outfit?"

ehm, no. so that is why i joined the aleidas challenge flickr group where you can share those mother/child photos.

i love to see photos of my mother when she was young. she was beautiful.

major scrapbooking update

i don´t know if it was the fact that it was NSD this weekend or that i had some burst of inspiration in general, but i managed to crack out some layouts! so here we go!

the story: we celebrated 7 years of marriage this week. and we did that just the way we wanted = a family walk through the forest.

the goods: i don´t usually use a patterned paper as a background, but i felt inspired :) this paper comes from a kit from a swedish store called Åhléns. i cut it out so that it would barely cover the black paper. punched hearts in the holes at the bottom. i then used my american crafts foam thickers for the numbers 1-7 and added some "mel-butterflies". when i got to this point i didn´t want to use any journaling tags or such so i simply added my small journaling in one of the circles in the patterned paper.

the story: this year i have gotten lots of comfort in working in my garden. i wanted to record how good it makes me feel.

the goods: the patterned paper is from amy butlers paper stack. i punched a heart at the bottom and used the hearts other side to bring out more of the blue in the paper. tied a bow with some sheer ribbon and journaled on my typewriter and added the "majblomma" and the american crafts bird.

the story: during our forest walk last week we picked flowers, which is a lovely way to spend 15 minutes by the way. and i loved that my daughter enjoys it too.

the goods: the yellow paper is from a SIS collection and the other strip of paper is from a amy butler paper pack. i used a label from a 2peas digital kit which i cut out the middle from and adhered with some foam stickers over my journaling. making memories does the letter stickers and there is another "mel-butterfly".

the story: ehm, well although my Sally isn´t quite as crazy as to find funny places to sleep as this cat :) she does show up in some cool places. this day she used a plant in my garden as a jungle hideout!

the goods: oh, i used a fun and very cool digital mask by erica hernandez called wonky photo mask. and i am happy to admit that i printed the acctual mask out in greyscale and then handcut the photo and patterned paper into the wonky shapes because i didn´t know how to use mask in Photoshop :) now i do! the patterned paper was a scrap i have had like forever which i obviously forgot who made. the chipboard flower is from american crafts.

the story: just a welcome page to spring!

the goods: wow another patterned paper background :) the bloom tag is from a digital kit and the label is from the same label kit as described above. the smile tag is from scenic route and i used my old label maker for the journaling.

what have you done since we last talked?

re post from 2008

So, did you ever come with me and Sadie on a walk? If you missed it, let´s go!

This is what we see when we get out of the house. And we are going south to begin with.

Our street or neighbourhood consists of about 20 houses and they are a majority of red houses with white details :) But my friend lives here and I love that they have a white house!

This is our firestation. The firemen work 25% as firemen and then they have "normal" jobs also. We are turning right here and will head west.

Down towards the lake.

I always love to walk here in the different seasons. The farmland changes all the time and the view of the lake is beautiful to me.

Down by the water there are a few summerhouses. This red one is my favorite. It is an artist that lives here and their garden are full of cool details that she has made.

If we would have walked straight on here we would end up on the beach. But we are turning left here and head south again.

This is what is right to me for about 2 km. Ah!

At these old milkcans we are turning left and head west. The little mushroom on the side indicates that the schoolbus should stop there. And if you see that there are reflectors on there, they say how many kids that lives there that will go on the bus.

These are mostly smaller houses that are for rent.

Now we have come to the way that goes down to the harbour and the ferry. The sides were filled with trees, but after 3 bigger storms the last years so so many of our trees have fallen.

Sadie wanted to go the other way! We usually take a shortcut here :)

But today we are taking the "long" way to the store before we go home. Aka north.

This is one of our stores. Although we are only about 800 people living here we have 2 grocery stores. There also a postoffice in here.

Ok, so now we are back at the firestation, do you see it on the left side?

And after about 45 minutes we are back home :)

Ah, thank you for coming along! :)

we all went on a much needed forest walk together last night. a kind of walk that gives you the opportunity to really hear everything and see more. and flower picking is always a good thing according to me :)

spring has really sprung!

today 7 years ago i said i do to my husband and he said the same to me.

the story: my girl really likes her hair long, but the downside is that she has to comb it witch she hates :) so one night last week she suddenly agreed to get it cut, so i saw my chance :)

the goods: i printed my photos with text on them, the bird tag is scenic route and the s where cut out of felt.

the story:we keep a whiteboard pen in our bathroom so that we can write messages to eachother on the mirror. one day last week my daughter wrote a love message, then my husband responded and then i did. i love our everyday love :)

the goods: i love this background paper :) i found it in a pamflet and had to use it on a layout. i journalled on the My minds eye journaling tag with my typewriter and punched out hearts for the bubbles :) i very rare layout with no photos!

the story: the cute little note i got from my girl on V-day was begging to be preserved :)

the goods: the paper is from 2peas free digital kit of april. butterflies from mel and clouds by moi :)

the story: we were playing on the beach and i really love these photos.

the goods: super simple with scenic route tags and for all the swedish people yes that is this years "majblomma".

we had a wonderfully warm and sunny weekend and i am thrilled that spring is early and in full bloom here!
