so, here is the second post of this special month. this is where we are going to be a little bit informative and get some hard statistics. here is what www.pinkribbon.com writes about the cancerform.

"Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. Breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer deaths in Hispanic women. It is the second most common cause of cancer deaths in white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native women.

In 2004,

186,772 women were diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,954 women died from breast cancer" Source: U.S. Cancer Statistics Working Group

unfortunatly i am sure that most of us know atleast one person that has had breastcancer or does right now.

as there are myths about other diseases there are myths around breastcancer. you can read a few of them here.

and as they say: the best protection is early detection! it is so easy and yet so important to do your self exams at least once a month. the best time to do a SBE is several days after the end of your period, when your breasts are the least likely to be swollen. If you are no longer having periods, choose a day that's easy to remember, such as a birthday. to send me a email reminder every month on a specifik day. i have called my special calendar my boobie calendar :)

you can chose the date in advance so that you won´t forget. i have used google calendar

this is such an easy way to remind yourself to actual do the self exams.

 Not every cancer can be found this way, but it is a critical step you can and should take for yourself.
